      Coron Island, reached via a 20-minute bangka ( outrigger boat ) ride from Coron Town. is rugged and sparsely populated, with high limestone rocks, lush greenery, secluded bays and seven mountain lakes, each with  its own character.  The shallow waters harbor a dozen well-preserved Japanese shipwrecks that can be explored by divers. Lake Barracuda has layers of fresh, salt, and brackish water and dramatic temperature shifts.  Lake Kayangan, with its crystal-clear waters, is an underwater lands cape burrowed into the mountain walls.  The entire island is the ancestral domain of the Tagbanua, fisherman and managers of these ecologically sensitive sites.
